Having had an excellent introduction to the I.S.T.D. syllabus in the early years, students can now strengthen their technique in the modern dance, lyrical and contemporary styles. It is a delightful dance genre where you will see your child become an expressive performer and grow in confidence as they prepare for exams. They will gain strength and control as they work their core, enabling them to execute this seemingly effortless dance style.

Lyrical and contemporary have very specific techniques, this class is designed to enhance the work achieved in the modern classes and to delve deeper into the workings of each genre. Lyrical embodies asects of ballet, jazz and modern dance, it should have flowing movements with expression and emotion that connect with the song lyrics. Contemporary dance combines the strength and control of ballet with modern stresses. Students will learn, how to contract and release, floor work, fall and recovery with unpredictable changes in rhythm, speed and direction. Due to the complex nature of these genres a good understanding of core control and transfer of weight is essential so this class is open to students from grade 4 modern and above. It is not included in the "unlimited" fees package , it is an "add on" class.
